My Traveled Road

My Traveled Road

I was raised in a family of snapshot takers...

Some of my earliest memories are of my uncle wielding a black-and-white movie camera, preserving family moments.

My own journey with photography began in the late 1960s when my mother gave me a Kodak Brownie camera as a Christmas gift. It was simple, but it sparked my artistic interest. That passion truly took root in the 1980s when I was honored as a Christa McAuliffe Fellow by the State of Texas and the US Department of Education. The award came with funding that I used to create video and photographic teaching tools, designed to help kids articulate what they observed through a microscope’s lens.

As I later traveled the world for medical mission work and business, I always had a camera nearby. In those years, I honed my ability to frame shots that could transport me back to a moment and weave a narrative—sharing the beauty and diversity I encountered across countless places.

Over the past two years, I have committed myself full time to pursuing the photographic arts. It’s been an all-in commitment—of time, talent, and resources—to craft images of exceptional quality. My aim? To create work that makes you look twice. People have often asked, “Do you have a website? Where can I see your portfolio or view high-resolution versions of your work?” For some time, I’d say, “It’s in progress!”—a distant goal. Now, it’s real. I’ve brought it to life because sitting still isn’t an option. There’s too much left to photograph! To me, exceptional photography is about what I call texturized, complexified lighting. With that vision driving me, I strive to produce images that stand out—distinct from the ordinary, infused with something extraordinary.
